I created a last-minute draft 'dodger' using a combination of items I had around the house: a curtain valance from my daughter (she took down several when she moved into her house a few years ago and I, of course, took them so they wouldn't get thrown away...), a bunch of plastic bags that the morning newspaper comes in, some rubber bands, and a couple of large safety pins.

I started by laying the valance by the door for the size, then folded the ends over (the top & bottom that look like they're folded are really the hems).

I stuffed 4 plastic bags full of additional bags, squeezed the air out & tied them shut.

Then I laid the bags on the valance end-to-end & rolled them up inside - this shows the start of that process.

Here we are, all rolled up. I put a rubber band around each end and then decided that the opening need to be fastened so I used 2 large safety pins for that.

The finished product. It does a good job. I found that the door pushes it aside when I open it, but I still have to put it back in place each time...which isn't a big problem.
