New-last-year flower bed: purple irises & muscari/grape hyacinth
Oh, I love Fridays...the beginning of the weekend. I wonder if I'll feel the same about them when I'm no longer working...
I've been wondering if I should put something here about what's happening with my job? Well, I guess I could - if you don't want to read about it, then just skip this next part.
Due to budgets issues with the State, our office, & the whole program statewide, is being cutback - I guess "downsized" is the word. My job is disappearing; another one is going to part-time. That's just in our office; there are more drastic changes taking place in some of our other office. But, we only have 4 people in ours, so it seems pretty drastic to us.
I'm lucky in that I'll be able to take early retirement. It was a bit startling to begin with - I've only been laid-off from one other job in my life, back in 1968. But now, I'm really looking forward to this new adventure. My last day of work is June 30th - only 2 months/8 weeks/41 days away -- but who's counting?!?!
I will be able to spend the best half of the summer in my garden, taking my grandchildren to the beach and to the park, and just be a Lady of Leisure' for the rest of the summer. I'll worry about finances in the Fall.
I know the kitties will love it...they only get to go outside when I"m out there with them.

Muscari, a few daffodils, a stray hyacinth - and some poor, deer-munched tulips. Looks like only a few are going to bloom this year. The deer don't like the daffodils so I may plant a bunch of those in the fall & pass the tulips along to someone w/o a hungry deer problem.

I think this early retirement means travel too - like a drive to Montana ;)
