The Never-Ending Winter

Woke up to more snow on the ground today, probably an inch or so - DRAT!! I was able to get out yesterday to do some digging/plotting/clearing. I started taking the leaf/straw much off the strawberry patch because I could see some green leaves trying to get out to the sun.

Here's how it looks part-way uncovered.

My goal for this week is to have my blog ready 'for public viewing'. I took several photos while out in garden yesterday - maybe I should just post those...

The original garden bed. I've decided this year to break it up into 4 raised beds - started on that yesterday. On the right is the second bed that I made and planted with red potatoes last year. In the fall I planted garlic on the left end, and it's growing! You can barely see th
e green stalks in this photo (below).

Here's my new asparagus bed - the roots arrived on Friday, so I thought I'd better get to it. Was able to fill 4 1-gallon plastic pots with stones while I was digging this up - oh, my aching back!

We've been setting all sorts of records this winter season: most snowfall, most days in-a-row with snow on the ground, snowiest March, probably snowiest April...(sigh) It is SUPPOSED to warm up toward the end of this week.

This is how it all looked this morning:
