Finally some nice weather?

TGIF. Temps are 'sposed to be in the mid-50s today, and in the mid-60s tomorrow - YAY! Still have a pile of snow in the front yard, mostly from off the roof, in the shadiest area, but the garden is cleared off. Still to wet to dig, though.

Hopefully I will be able to get out to clear off the herb and strawberry beds and clear out the raspberry patch. I was able to get some large pieces of cardboard from work earlier this week to cover the future popcorn (I think) site.

The kitties are anxious to get outside, too. TJ is beating up on the girls - maybe some outside time will calm him down. Still getting used to not having Priscilla anymore - mornings are when I miss her most.

Sent off another seed order this week - this time to Heirloom Seeds - in order to participate in Rhonda Jean's Seed Swap. Riverview Nursery had an advertisement in this morning's paper for onion sets & seed potatoes, so I'll be stopping by there after work today. Might just pick up some broccoli seeds, too. I plan on starting some seeds indoors this weekend. Have all my supplies ready, & most of my seeds.

I've really been inspired by Barbara Kingsolver's book (Animal, Vegetable, Miracle) and am planning on planting according to what I want to harvest for the winter (lots of tomatoes, dry beans, berries, root crops). We'll see how it goes.

I did get out earlier in the week to measure the garden plots, so now I can 'make a plan.' I think I will divide the largest into 4 smaller beds, running north-south, & adding soil & manure to each. Hopefully, there's some compost ready to add to each, too.
