The Problem of Sorrel

I have sorrel. I have LOTS of sorrel. I have TOO MUCH sorrel. I started with one plant, from my favorite herb lady (Nothing But Herbs) at the Farmer's Market, the first summer I moved here (2004). Having only one garden plot at that time, I plunked it down in there.

Then I made an herb garden, so I moved the sorrel to that bed. It's doing quite well (photo 1)

But, surprise, sorrel has deep roots, and it came up again in the original spot. So I moved it again in 2006, this time to a spot where I seem to be collec
ting overgrown/prolific herbs (notice the chives and thyme to the right & left, respectively, in photo 2).

I shouldn't have been too surprised the following spring to see it come up again, and I wasn't. This is the way it looks this year. (3rd photo) And, of course, I'm going to move it again. (sigh) I think I'll move it to the side yard, or maybe the front. Perhaps the deer will like it, and choose it over my tulip shoots.
I've picked some and made some yummy soup. Going to try some other recipes I've found, too. If you're headed though north Idaho and want some sorrel, just let me know.
