There is a clump of what looks to me like oats growing in the garden. Does anyone know? Only one clump; don't know how it got there - birds? No squirrels around and deer don't come into the back yard.
May God bless you with discomfort
at easy answers, half-truths,
and superficial relationships
so that you may live deep
within your heart.
May God bless you with anger
at injustice, oppression,
and exploitation of people,
so that you may work for justice,
freedom, and peace.
May God bless you with tears
to shed for those who suffer pain,
rejection, hunger, and war,
so that you may reach out your
hand to comfort them and
to turn their pain into joy.
And may God bless you with
enough foolishness
to believe that you can make
a difference in the world,
so that you can do what others
claim cannot be done
to bring justice and kindness to
all our children and the poor.
Amen

Thanks, Chile - I just look up photos of both on the Internet - I will agree with you. Hey, I'm growing wheat!
Carla
Wow! How totally cool that you've got wheat. Homemade, homegrown bread here you come.
Okay, GB - I'm not sure how big this clump looks in the photo, but I'm not sure I'll get enough grains to be able to grind enough for flour for bread. Maybe enough to replant AND share with blog-friends...?

My first guess was wheat...carla, this is from kukull! While traveling by car from WA. to Mn. Dad would make us guess what type of grain was growing as we passed the fields in WA, Montana and North Dakota. got to be pretty good at guessing! love you site!
