I started with the tail end of last week's loaf of bread & made some yummy bread pudding with chocolate chips (only my "chips" were more like little wafers). Then I made another load of bread - and realized I have not purchased a loaf of bread since around Thanksgiving! This is partly due to all the experimenting I was doing with sourdough during January & February. I also had a pot of chicken stock going during all of this. Smelled really good in there! Finished up by having a go at homemade crackers using Kathie's recipe at Two Frog Home. (The recipe is in the Comments section.)
Sunday morning dawned with no rain in sight, but it was chilly, plus a grandson's birthday party was the day's main event, so no gardening was accomplished until later in the afternoon, & all I managed was to pick a few stalks of rhubarb (it's looking rather thin) and some leaf lettuce, spinach and radishes. And more rain today (Monday). Forecast is for nicer weather by the end of the week, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Post would not be complete w/o a OKP*, so here's TJ keeping his glowing eyes on me while I work in the kitchen.

He's been going a little stir crazy not getting to go outside. I only let my cats outdoors when I'm outdoors, & since it's been raining all week, I haven't been outdoors. He paces, prowls, cries, picks on the 'girls', races around - is basically a pain.

That bread pudding looks awesome! How'd the crackers turn out?
Kathie -
The crackers are yummy! I could have rolled them a bit thinner. I only made half of the dough because I ran out of time; I'll make up the rest tonight & try making them thinner. I followed the original recipe since I had rye flour on hand.
Wish I had brought some to work with me - sounds like a good snack about now!

Hi Aunt Carla,
Your kitchen looks like the right place to be on a cold & rainy afternoon! I would love to spend some time sampling your bread pudding!
Hannah LOVED your birthday package! The animals were a HUGE hit! You always send the best surprises! Thank you for thinking of her as you always do!
